Painted Yellow Stripe on Dashboard Trim

I decided to paint the lower section of the RenaultSport dashboard trim in gloss yellow. Below are some pics of the finished dashboard trim painted with a gloss yellow stripe to replace the OEM silver.

  1. Great work Ahmed...love it. You've inspired me to have a crack at doing some painting myself.

Thanks again for the DRL kit. I'm loving it :-)

A quick question though....how did u manage to keep dust out of the paint while drying? What paint did u use (also for the black vent surrounds).

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Homer, glad you're enjoying the DRL mod.

Regarding the dust, spraying the area with water is good for keeping the dust down before painting. I paint outside, and I almost never have dust problem. If you still have dust problems then a canopy of some kind would be good.

I used spray can paint. Prepped it first by keying all the parts, then cleaned with alcohol wipes, sprayed adhesion promoter, sprayed few layers of base-coat, then about 4 or 5 layers of acrylic clear coat. after it has fully cured 24-48hrs later, wet sanded with 2500grit to get a completely flat look and then polished for a perfect shine. I will post a guide soon on the how to section.

      Hope that helps.

  3. Hi,
First of all thanks' for inspiration, my MK3 GT style S&S will be cuter after this mod :).

My idea is to wrap the dashboard trim first with a 5D glossy carbon vinile and then apply the bottom yellow line. What did you use for the yellow line? or what your tip about? Thanks!
