Megane III TouchScreen GPS SatNav,iPod,Bluetooth,Reverse Camera etc.

Finished installing our aftermarket 7" Chinese DVD, GPS headunit. The system is CANBUS enabled and works perfectly with steering wheel controls.

The setup and configuration of the system is as follows:

  • Primo 1.2 with latest maps on SD Card.
  • Extended auxiliary RCA video & audio input to a surface mounted plate in the glovebox
  • Extended iPod Connector to the glovebox
  • Replaced the Standard RCA auxiliary port that came with the car, with a USB port connected to this system
  • Reverse camera (Mounted Flush) wired via a voltage regulator.
  • GPS Antenna concealed inside top of the A pillar lining magnetically mounted to car body
Below are some pics of the system and the setup:

And here is a Spanish youtube video review of the system by Eric Martinez.

    1. Hi, yes the steering wheel controls work for controlling and navigating through songs.

  3. Hi. Thanks for the review. How is the radio working with you. I have it in my Subaru and the reception is too weak. FM stations have about half the normal range. And AM stations are barely usable even close to their source in the city.

    Could you tell me. Thanks

    1. I initially had problem with radio signal being useless and then later realised that you need a antenna amplified, the unit has a blue wire that is labelled ANT-C this wire provides the +12v power to the inline amplifier which then solves the radio signal problem

  4. Hi ... I am Artemisia from Greece.
    Well done for your video.
I would like to share with you my experience. I have recently buy this product, for my Renault Megane III coupe. After we setup the whole system, a problem came up: the three led lights on the screen were off function, and these messages appeared on the car display: "Passenger airbags off", "Check Airbags."
Did you make any adaptation using the CLip diagnostic tool??
The engineer of the company which sell this product, claims tha the canbus has broken during the delivery.
The dvd-gps car player is functioning well. But the safety belt of the passenger and the airbags are off.
Please, help me!!! What we done wrong???

    1. Hello Artemisia,

I had this exact same problem when installing and realised it was an installation error on my end and not a hardware fault or anything. The suppliers are rather useless because i spent days emailing them and eventually they claim the problem is with the car.

The problem occurs when the cable that is split like a Y cable is connected wrong way round. The cable I am referring to has a same black connector on both ends of the Y cable and this is the reason you can actually wire it wrong way round. This problem occurs if you connect the Y split side to the LCD screen. When you look at this cable you would assume it connects to the LCD screen because of the Y shape and the other connector that connects to the OEM wire. But this is not the case. The Y split end that has 2 connectors, one needs to go on to the back of the Radio unit and the other end goes to the LCD.

This should resolve the airbag fault message

  5. Hi Ahmed,
I am wondering whether to buy such system. What can you say about the sensitivity of the display - does it feels like resistive or capacitive one?
Also what is the quality of the sound system?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. The touch screen is resistive. It's not great but works well. Sound system is ok but not the best in the world as the speakers in the Megane III arn't that great. So to get good sound out of it, an active-sub would be a good option. The system comes with additonal outputs, so you could easily wire up extra speakers through a sub.

  7. Sorry for bumping this old article - I have the same unit (S60) installed in my Megane III Coupe, but I have problems with it. Now I have to wait - the guys at workshop that installed it are now looking for solutions. Three airbag/seetbelt lights don't work, the car flashes 'passenger airbag off' error, radio has the poorest FM reception and I cannot get it to work for more than 2 minutes when the engine is off. The car has a handsfree keycard and when I enter the car, there is no way to turn on the radio without pushing start button or inserting a keycard in the slot. That turns on the radio for about 2 minutes and then it's turned off. Then I have to press start again or remove the keycard and insert it again which is very, very annoying. Does anyone know can it be fixed? The guys at the workshop say it's supposed to be that way

    Any help is appreciated.
    Greetings from Croatia

P.S. Is it possible to change the interface into this?

  8. You made a good point to having this one for your driving safety. Its one of a great gadget with the same function as a portable gps navigation, reverse camera, mp3, and etc. Thank you for taking the time to create and post this.

  12. Hi

Did you have to take the dashboard out to wire the head unit to the display? If not, how did you do it? Thanks.

    1. No need to remove dashboard, just remove the oem stereo and the fascia, remove the top unit that is to be replaced and you will be able to easily fish the wiring through.
