Headlight Removal / Bulb Change

If you are looking to remove your headlamp to either change a bulb or anything else, the instructions below shows you how to go about it.

There is a silver metal Collet (Labelled 3 in the illustration below), when you pull this up and out, not only does it hold the headlamp in place but also acts as a roadside tool to be able to use to remove the bolts needed to completely take the headlamp off.

  1. Make sure the ignition is switched off.
  2. Remove the collet (The Silver Metal Plate) by pulling it up and out. (Labelled 3 in the illustration below)
  3. Remove the two headlight upper bolts (Labelled 1 in the illustration below)
  4. Move the headlight towards the front of the vehicle (Direction Indicated with label 3)
  5. Disconnect the headlight connectors.
  6. Remove the headlight and change bulbs if needed.

    Thanks! This was very helpful, I managed to remove the headlight. But I have the factory xenon lights and I still have no idea how to get the bulb itself out.

    Hi. I do have the same problem. A xenon light bulb with no plug. I attached a screenshot. I had to broke it from the wires. Please, help. I want to use some other h7 lights. Thank you. http://storage6.static.itmages.com/i/16/0729/h_1469820387_1071696_92c5296735.png

    Thanks for this! So simple. And to think I had to get a refund from Halfrauds for fitting as they have a Do Not Attempt on their system for this. Just done it myself in 10 minutes.

    How do you disconnect the wires? There are about three connectors and I can't figure it out.

      You need to look at the connectors carefully and you will need to use pinch or use a small flat-head screwdriver to lift the tab slightly and this will release the clip tabs

    Is there anything else that needs to be done to remove the headlamp completely? I followed the above steps on the nearside headlight on my Mk3 2010 Megane (halogen headlights) and the headlight moves forward about 10cm but can't be moved any further.
